2007 Rockpile Malbec
The second edition of my Rockpile Malbec is a blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 vintage was a riper vintage than the previous. I took advantage of the fruit intensity this provides, but also picked early to keep alcohol levels moderate. The same barrel program was used as the previous vintage, 100% French Oak (38% new). This Malbec is more of a new world style – heavy, rich, and robust. The dark berry, semi-sweet chocolate, and peppery flavors are a pleasurable combination that I believe you will enjoy. Good now, but can be cellared for 5-7 years.
Cheers!
Eric Keating
