2008 Sonoma Valley Merlot

2008 Sonoma Valley Merlot

In 2008, the Merlot developed intense fruit very early and was my first to harvest, shortly after Labor Day. The fruit developed nicely during its 18 months in mainly French Oak. I blended in 7% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Montecillo Vineyard, high above Sonoma Valley to add tannins, structure and weight to this already hearty Merlot. Bright red fruits, nice acidity, and a long finish make this wine enjoyable with a variety of food, from pizza to steak.

Cheers!
