2009 Sonoma Valley "Montecillo" Zinfandel
This single vineyard designate Zinfandel comes from the Montecillo Vineyard in the Mayacamas mountain range on the east side of Sonoma Valley. Rough, rugged terrain and high elevation (1800') force these vines to struggle which ultimately leads to a fantastic combination of powerful fruit and stony minerality. The aromas can be described as earth/forest floor, crushed raspberry, and dark cherry. The minerality shows in the finish with cigar box spice and peppery tannins. Because this is a very structured Zinfandel, it should cellar for 10+ year
Cheers!

90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine "A very nice Zin, lusty and rich, with ripe flavors of raspberries, cherries, red currants, licorice, smoked meat and dusty baking spices. It's a big wine whose fruits and tannins suggest pairing with smoky barbecue."
